The Department of Philosophy The Department of Philosophy at the University of Manchester is located within the School of Social Science. We have particular research strengths in History of Analytic Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, Metaphysics, and Engaged Philosophy (including social ontology and environmental philosophy). PhD Applications should be made online at https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-research/programmes/list/03159/phd-philosophy/ You'll need a 1,500 word research proposal, two letters of reference, degree transcripts and a CV. AHRC Funding The University of Manchester is a member of the Northwest Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership ( http://www.nwcdtp.ac.uk/ ), which expects to offer a number of PhD studentships this year (TBC). Both UK and international students can apply for AHRC funding. Exceptional applicants may be upgraded to a President's Doctoral Scholar Award. AHRC funding applicants must submit their online applications by the deadline of 11 January 2022 and then complete an AHRC application form. SoSS Funding We expect to offer a number of School of Social Science Studentships. Exceptional applicants may be upgraded to a President's Doctoral Scholar Award. SoSS Studentships are open to UK and international students. Applicants are automatically considered for SoSS funding if they submit their online applications by the deadline of 11 January 2022.
